A National Lottery Community Fund Project

Thanks to the National Lottery Community fund, Compass is now able to offer bespoke support for adults on Merseyside who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or exploitation. The support will be available for one to one counselling sessions.  You would work through a handbook of support which has been specifically designed for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.  This would potentially enable you to move from, not just surviving the abuse but being able to thrive in the present. This handbook of recovery is adapted  to meet individual needs  and the pace and direction is always led by you, not the counsellor.

We are able to offer up to 24 counselling sessions on a weekly basis.  Each session would take place at the same time slot with the same counsellor and last for 50 minutes.  The project started in  February 2020 for one to one support.

At present due to Covid-19 we are limited to offering a service of telephone and video counselling with a reduced service of face to face sessions.

Compass is a trusted provider of counselling services, having served the local community for over 40 years.  This programme is available to adults over 18 on Merseyside  who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or exploitation. It is open to both women and men.

You can refer yourself or ask a professional to refer you if you prefer

We will arrange an assessment session where both you and our counsellor can  discuss further and answer any questions.

The program uses the handbook “The Warrior Within” , and is for use by both male and female survivors of CSA and sexual violence. It’s aim is to help those outside of counselling sessions to help survivors cope and control the pace of their healing. The handbook can be found below;

The programme is free as it is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund

My experience with Compass from the start was excellent and made me think there was a light at the end of the tunnel. If it wasn't for Compass I don't think I would be feeling this way.

I loved every minute of it!
