Janette Carr - Chief Executive Officer

Hello, I joined Compass in May 2021, and it is a privilege to join such an established and highly valued organisation.

My background includes clinical, managerial, and commissioning roles in the NHS and the Third Sector.  Alongside the Board of Trustees, my role is to support the staff team, and our wide community of volunteers to maintain the existing high standards of service provision.

Our aspiration now is to develop and expand our services, by doing this we will be able to broaden our remit and provide support to a wider community.

Esther Darnton - Counselling Service Manager

Hello – I am a BACP registered counsellor who trained at JMU ( John Moore’s Uni) in 2002.  I have previously volunteered as a counsellor for Compass and at RASA Merseyside since 2003, as a rape and sexual abuse counsellor.  I joined the Compass team in February 2020 to set up “Surviving to Thriving” – a new counselling strand for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This service provided one to one counselling, working through a programme of steps.  In July 2022, I moved to the role of Counselling Service Manager within Compass.

Helen Ellis - Learning and Organisational Development Manager

Hello – I qualified as a Counsellor six years ago, and I am also a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I started volunteering at Compass in 2014 and was appointed as one of the two Counselling Service Managers in 2016, to manage our Workplace Support Service. Until recently I delivered anger management training for Compass. I also work as a tutor both at Compass and at a local college, delivering counselling training.

Suzy Maher

Suzy Mather - Operations Manager

Hello – I joined Compass in January 2019 in order to assist with the smooth running of the office.  I deal with the financial transactions as well as liaising with counsellors and clients alike. I am motivated to helping move Compass forward though our social media profile and website in order to assist in advertising the important work that Compass does. 

Kelly Hawker - Operations Administration Officer

Hello – I joined the Compass team in November 2019 in order to support the volunteer and staff team to underpin the smooth running of the office.  I am front of house to our clients, providing friendly and efficient information about our services and taking referrals.  I liaise with our counsellors, on room bookings and all other aspects of the administrative support across the board to ensure the day to day running of the office is done so effectively.

I am self motivated and enthusiastic in delivering my role and providing a caring nature to our clients.
