Hello – I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over 25 years experience in the sector, having started my career as a volunteer. I am a supervisor, qualified trainer and an experienced manager of counselling services. I have extensive experience of working with workplace contracts and providing post incident support services. I am also a qualified trainer and have designed and taught counselling training courses in a University setting.

Ruth Owen - Counselling Service Manager
Hello – I am a BACP registered counsellor who trained and qualified at Compass over 16 years ago. I have volunteered as a counsellor with Compass ever since. More recently I was appointed as one of the two Counselling Service Managers. As part of this role I am the person who carries out the initial assessment for counselling, to explain the process, and answer any queries.
Helen Ellis - Counselling Service Manager
Hello – I qualified as a Counsellor six years ago, and I am also a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I started volunteering at Compass in 2014 and was appointed as one of the two Counselling Service Managers in 2016, to manage our Workplace Support Service. Until recently I delivered anger management training for Compass. I also work as a tutor both at Compass and at a local college, delivering counselling training.
Suzy Mather - Office Administrator
Hello – I joined Compass in January 2019 in order to assist with the smooth running of the office. I deal with the financial transactions as well as liaising with counsellors and clients alike. I am motivated to helping move Compass forward though our social media profile and website in order to assist in advertising the important work that Compass does.
Kelly Hawker - Adminstrative Assistant
Hello – I joined the Compass team in November 2019 in order to support the volunteer and staff team to underpin the smooth running of the office. I am front of house to our clients, providing friendly and efficient information about our services and taking referrals. I liaise with our counsellors, on room bookings and all other aspects of the administrative support across the board to ensure the day to day running of the office is done so effectively.
I am self motivated and enthusiastic in delivering my role and providing a caring nature to our clients.
